The Runaway Scarf Published in 2008 by MWP
An African slave, oppressed by the non-Muslim Arabs in Makkah, finds compassion and freedom once she escapes to the first Muslim community established by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the city of Madinah. Inspired by authentic Islamic hadith (Sahih Bukhari, Volume 5, Book 58, Number 176), this story communicates the spirit of human justice and equality valued in the Islamic tradition.

Voices for Africa
( from the website of Pamela K. Taylor http://www.pktaylor.com/voicesforafrica.htm )

Voices for Africa is a booklet of poems and artwork dedicated to the hundreds of thousands of African women, men, children and babies whose pleas for help have gone unheard by many in our world.

The purpose of Voices for Africa is to remind us all that even though the problems in this land seem overwhelming, each reader can do something positive to help change the lives of the suffering people living in Africa. One by one, our efforts may seem woefully inadequate, but together we can make a real difference.

People from all walks of life, races, religions, and cultures who have contributed to or sponsored Voices for Africa encourage you to choose your favorite charitable organization or one of the organizations listed below and make a gift to the people of Africa.

We are not selling this book, it is our gift to Africa and to you.
We hope you will give your own gift.  (See a list of charities here)

Voices for Africa features poems by Muslims and non-Muslims, by Africans and non-Africans. As a contributing poet, I encourage you to support this project, and to make a contribution to your favorite charity, or one of the charities below. I also encourage you to support Muslim Writers Publishing and its owner Linda D. Delgado who had the vision, commitment and the skills to make this project possible. If you would like to promote Voices for Africa on your website, please feel free to link to this site, or to distribute it directly. We just ask that you distribute it without charge, and that you remind readers to be generous to the people of Africa.
